There is a week left to find those BNP tennis tickets for the BNP Paribas Showdown at Madison Square Garden on February 28, 2011. The four tennis prodigies are now in full preparations for the upcoming tennis-fest – known as “the countdown to the showdown” – and tennis fans across the region are checking for updates and news on all channels from Facebook to Twitter to television. The BNP Tennis Showdown is more exciting this year than ever, with the likes of John McEnroe and Pete Sampras stepping up to the baseline for some of the best tennis seen at Madison Square Garden for a long time. New York native McEnroe will be more than familiar with the world famous venue, and it is his opponent, Ivan Lendl, who will represent the “away” team. As for the other match between Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi, everyone will be hoping for a repeat of the brilliant (and funny) game the two played in the Hit For Haiti in March. In that game, alongside Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, the crowd were treated to a rally of great tennis and constant jibes from the two tennis greats (Sampras and Agassi, that is) that poked fun at each other throughout.
Lendl has the distinction of having progressed to the Master’s final at Madison Square Garden a record eight times having won the competition outright five times. Lendl beat McEnroe in the 1983 Masters Final but McEnroe won consecutive finals against Lendl in 1984 and 1985. The rivarlies between these four guys still simmers, albeit in mellower fashion, but the tennis will still take your breath away. Come on down to Madison Square Garden with some BNP Paribas tennis tickets this week!
